"At one time, during the early days of the parish, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church was once known as St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rumor has it that when official forms were being sent to the diocese, the wrong John was inadvertently noted and history was made. Bureaucracy being what it was, even back then, it was easier to leave John the Baptist as the parish patron than to try to change the paperwork. Hence, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church was born!"
