At the 'Adlerbastei' in Ulm, Germany, Baden-Württemberg exists an old Sign of History remind of 'Albrecht Ludwig Berblinger' better known as 'Schneider von Ulm' (Tailor of Ulm).
The sign reminds of the first public glider flight of a human in May 1811. The king of Württemberg Freiedrich I wanted to see the flying man everyone talks about. So Berblinger had to make a flight over the Donau River (Danube). But in the 19th centery did not know a lot about aerodynamics and thermic. Berblinger felt into the water. He escaped by fleeing and was not seen again in his home town.
This was the first proofed flight of a human in history.
Berblinger is still a hero for people in Ulm.
There are books and poems about his life.
