Redningsstationen blev oprettet i 1912 og nedlagt i 1961. Efter nedlæggelsen af stationen kom redningsbåden til Grønland.
I 1919 blev 2 mand reddet fra druknedøden, da fiskekutteren "Valborg" forliste ud for Fanø. Derudover deltog redningsbåden i et fåtal af aktioner.
I 1980 overdrog ejeren, Villum Kann Rasmussen, den nu lukkede redningsstation til Mandø Erhvervsråd, som senere i 2009 igen overdrog den til Mandø Museum til ejendom.
I dag er der en lille souvenirbutik i redningsstationen.

The life saving station is owned by Mandø Museum. It was in function as life saving station from 1912 till 1961.
During that time the station was part of a major rescuing action by the loss of the fishing vessel "Valborg" of Fanø, where 2 men were rescued. Besides in some minor actions.
The closed down station was in 1980, by the owner Villum Kann Rasmussen conveyed to Mandø Trade Foundation, which again handed it over to Mandø Museum in 2009.
Today the station houses a little souvenir shop during tourist season.
