The weathervane appears to be a sheep, or lamb, with a flag. The sheep and flag are painted gold or covered in gold leaf. The flag and hind quarters of the sheep form the sail of the weathervane. This is mounted on an ornate, scrolled metal mast that is painted black. The cardinal marks are also coloured gold.
