Located in front of the historic Prospect Hotel, which currently operates as a bed and breakfast, are two plaques that memorialize a couple, Carol Record and John 'Pete' Record. One plaque mentions the Prospect Hotel reconstruction completion and in memory of Carol's husband John. The other plaque memorializes Carol Record as a friend, boss, and mom and was dedicated in 1991.

The hotel's website has a good historical account of the history of this place and mentions the Records and reads:

A succession of owners reigned between 1952, when the Grieves' son took it over, and 1985, when Central Point residents John and Carol Record bought it and spent more than $1 million to restore the hotel. The Records added private baths, homemade quilts, brass beds and a log home on the property. They also built the motel units.

I was not able to collect any information on when this couple passed away.

The hotel was erected in 1892 and has served host to two U.S. Presidents and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
