This colorful tattoo parlor on the equally riotous and colorful Camden High Street, Evil from the Needle is obviously a destination, from the number of newly-tattooed people we saw wandering around the Camden High Street markets with their clear protective bandages and reddened skin.

"WELCOME
Evil from the Needle is Camden Town’s first and longest running tattoo studio. We are proud to be ranked as one of London’s top five by Skin and Ink magazine. The shop was opened by world famous tattoo artist, Bugs, in1986 and then handed over in June 2004 to respected New York tattooist Jeff Ortega.
Our aim is to continue to provide top quality custom work in a professional, friendly environment.
Artists working out of the studio are Jeff Ortega, Mark Ford, Goska, Lindsey Lawson, Antony Dickinson, Marcus Wall and Magda Zon.
WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS?
We are open 7 days a week from 11am – 6pm. You are welcome to visit us anytime during working hours to discuss your design ideas – there’s always someone at reception to help. If we feel an additional consultation is required with a specific artist, we’ll arrange that.
Please try and be here by 5.30pm if you wish to discuss your design and make all required arrangements.
Our studio is closed only 5 days a year: 24-26 December, 31 December – 1 January.
DO YOU DO PIERCING?
No! Please see our friends at COLD STEEL
DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?
Yes, depending on availability. Please call ahead...
DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS?
No, cash only.
DO YOU SELL GIFT VOUCHERS?
Yes! We can post it to you if you live outside London.
WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?
The shop minimum is £60. Hourly rates for session work is £100 per hour. Single sitting tattoos are quoted by the piece based on size, detail, location on the body and colour of the design.
HOW OLD MUST I BE TO GET TATTOOED?
You must be 18 or over to get tattooed. Upon booking an appointment you may need to present a PHOTO I.D. It is illegal to tattoo anyone under the age of 18, EVEN WITH PARENTAL CONSENT.
HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
We prefer to book appointments in person as we would like to discuss your design first and require a cash deposit (approx. half of the estimated price) to secure your appointment and to begin the drawing process. However, if you live outside London we’ll be able to conduct a consultation and booking via email, with deposit paid via PayPal (please note that payment via PayPal has a small fee). Deposits are left for a reason. We consider it a confirmation from you that you are committed to your appointment, the design and our time. DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE, so please be 100% sure about your booking and design.
If you email us for a quote, please give us as much information as possible regarding your idea. Please be sure to include size, where on your body, colour or black and gray etc. If you should have reference material, feel free to show us photos, drawings, sketches – pretty much anything that can help our artists visualise your idea. Once we know what you’d like to get we’ll be able to provide you with a rough quote, time estimate and appointment availability.
Please note we will only tattoo hands and sides of neck/throat if you are already heavily tattooed...
CAN I BRING A FRIEND - FAMILY MEMBER TO MY APPOINTMENT?
We kindly ask that you don't. Not because we are anti-social, but only because space is limited in the work rooms. Only the person getting tattooed gets to go upstairs. Please leave the kids at home!
WHAT TO DO BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?
If you have a morning appointment make sure you get a good night's rest and please do not over do it the night before. Getting tattooed if your worn out or hung over does not make the experience any better for either you or the artist. Make sure you have a good meal before coming in and we suggest bring a cold sugary drink with you (lucazaid, coke, juice etc.) just to keep your energy level and blood sugar up."
