While we have no idea what Monkido means, we know what one looks like, at least. The WildPlay park in Kelowna is one of six operated by WildPlay in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. The Kelowna park offers three Monkido Ropes Courses, Primal Swing, a huge pendulum ride on which one swings out over a deep chasm, seven DragonFLY Ziplines and the What’s To Fear Jump, in which one plunges from the edge of a 40-foot perch.

They weren't quite open for the season when we visited, so we weren't able to try any courses out, not that I would even want to - these look to be intended for folks younger than myself!

The Monkido Adventure courses sort of blend into each other - we couldn't tell for sure where one ended and another began. One Zips in and out of each course on smaller ziplines. Within each course there are more ziplines with which one zips from one stage to another. In the courses are about a zillion different obstacles and experiences, including log ladders, cargo nets, rope swings, tightropes, swinging logs, wobbly bridges and just plain nasty and impossible looking thingies.

The cost? One can experience the entire park for $99 or, one can do the Classic Course for $34.99, or the Extreme (Classic Course add-on) for an additional $9.99. Kids can do two rounds for $19.99.

The Primal Swing will set one back $59.99, or $99.98 for a tandem swing, while the the DragonFLY Ziplines will lighten one's wallet to the tune of $59.99 to ride all seven lines. The What's to Fear Jump can be done for $19.99 for a single or $14.99 as a Monkido add-on.

Aerial Adventure Courses

At most of our Parks you’ll find the Monkido® Adventure Course, a fun and thrilling experience right in the midst of nature for people ages five and older.

There are three self-paced Monkido® experiences that involve climbing, zip-lining, jumping, and swinging through obstacle games! Guests navigate log ladders, cargo nets, rope swings, tightropes, swinging logs, wobbly bridges, and more aerial surprises that gradually become higher and more challenging

Monkido® Classic
Games and zip lines that start at six-feet (two metres) above the ground, and begin to rise as you get comfortable with equipment and moving through the obstacles. The fun and challenge increase as you go, testing your bravery and evolving your abilities. Reach up to 45-feet (14 metres) and you’ve completed the whole course!

Monkido® Extreme
(add-on to the Monkido® Classic experience) Push your limits with the highest obstacles and zip lines – up to 60-feet (18 metres)! Our most thrilling games and moving obstacles fully challenge your balance and strength.
