This is a memorial dedicated to Jan Karski, "the man who tried to stop the Holocaust"

This simple monument is nothing more than a stone with a bronze plaque. It's located in a small park near the walls of old Kotor.

As written in the plaque, Jan Karski was "emissary of the Polish Underground State during WW II reported to the Allied leaders about the German Nazi annihilation of European Jews".

The monument was created by the Embassy of Poland, the Embassy of Israel and JNF-KKL Jerusalem, and inaugurated on the 27th October 2014.

Couldn't find a specific reason for the placement of the monument in Kotor as Jan Karski never lived there or had any obvious connection with the town. For a fine biography of Jan Karsky the Wikipedia article should be read:
