Fortunately for the hotel Evolution Mining reopened the gold mine that created the town in the first place. I dropped in to have a sars & the young bairmaid was pleased to see me as I was her first customer in hours. I asked what effect the reopening had on the pub & Cracow itself as most of the buildings are derelict. The miners have their own modern camp but locals who had the skills got jobs. Thursday & Saturday nights are the best trading times.

The hotelier is Fred Brophy famous in Australia for his boxing troupe, which at the time of my visit was in Birdsville in the far Outback.

The pub is an amazing place to see with crazy stuff hanging from the ceilings, ante rooms & walls with the writings of thousands of visitors. You can get a meal here with the special of the day being corn beef, veges & mash.

The barmaid gave me several folders which outlined in pictures & words the history of the town, its people, the mine & the pub & they are well worth looking through.
