Aliso Viejo is a city in Orange County, California. It's located in the San Joaquin Hills in the south part of the county. The population was 47,823 in 2010. It's the 34st largest city in the county and the youngest city in Orange. The city is bordered by the Lagunas of Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and Laguna Hills.
The city was once part of the Moulton Ranch, which was owned by the Moulton Family. The land grant was originally granted by the Mexican government of Juan Avila in the 1840s. Over time, the land became part of now's Leisure World, Laguna Hills and Laguna Niguel. In 1976, the land was purchased by the Mission Viejo Company, a real estate company, and made into a planned community called Aliso Viejo. The city itself was incorporated in 2001 and its motto is simple "Since 2001".
The city hall is located in an area with office buildings. The city offices are located in a large office building with glass panels.
