Northampton is the county seat of Hampshire County. The Hampshire County Courthouse Fountain is a cairn made up of rocks 23 of which are inscribed with the name of a Hampshire County town. The cairn is about 6' tall and sits in the center of a 20' diameter granite basin. Water sprays out from nozzle in the center of a bronze vase-shaped finial decorated with a relief of plants, runs down the cairn, and falls into the ground level basin.
