The Well & Spring House stands on the southern bank of the river, so it is in the County of Carmarthenshire, (Former Dyfed). The North side of the River is the County of Ceredigion (Former Cardiganshire)

" Ffynnon Llawddog (English. St Ludoc's Well)
St Llawddog's Spring, was regarded as a holy well. Situated on the South bank of the Teifi in Cenarth, the cover is modern. St Llawddog (Saint Ludoc) lived in the 7th century. A son of the King of Usk he was, according to tradition, responsible for many miracles. He is chiefly associated with North Wales where he was Abbot of Bardsey. There are a number of churches dedicated to him in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire including Cenarth and Cilgerran." Text Source: (visit link) & (visit link)
