"Dirty Jobs" sent Mike Rowe and his crew to film an episode in the salt mine 650 feet under Hutchinson, Kansas. The episode that aired contained an unusual amount of behind-the-scenes footage of the crew and equipment in action.
While filming Mike worked with Myron Marcotte, the shift supervisor, and rode in the Myron-mobile, a 1984 Pontiac which had been disassembled on the surface, sent down the elevator, and reassembled into a post-apocalyptic version of itself for use as basic transportation in the 1.5 x 2.5 mile labyrinth of salt.
This working mine now features an on-site museum and guided tours, known as "Strataca". One of the displays in the underground portion of the tour is the Myron-mobile, with a cutout of Mike, and information about the filming.
