The anchor here was recovered off the entrance to Port Royal Sound and is believed to be from circa 1850. Park is dedicated to all seafarer’s past and present.

No picnic table, other normal "park" things, just peace and quiet and green space

OLD FASHION ANCHOR
circa 1850

Found At A Point 14 Miles From Fripp Island, S.C.
At A Depth Of 50 Feet.

Recovered In 1974 By The Shrimping Trawler
"Bobby's Young n" Of Port Royal, S.C.
And Loaned To The Town By Her Captain,
Bobby Chaplin


My son and I were in this area for a Marine Corps graduation of a friend. We came early to look around. Port Royal and Beaufort are well worth the trip for history and unique finds.
