John Paul Jones was a Scottish immigrant to the American Colonies who rose through the ranks of the Continental Navy to become the Continental Navy's greatest Naval hero and the man who have the US nabvy many of the traditions that persist to this day.
Famous for refusing to surrender his ship to the British Navy, declaring in response to their demand, “Surrender? I have not yet begun to fight!” Johns is an immortal figure in the history of the Navy.
This monument by Charles Henry Niehaus dates from 1912, and immortalizes both Jones and his "fighting words" in a place of honor in West Potomac Park near the National Mall in DC.

Older Blasterz are proud to have served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf War. For us, a visit to this monument was something special.
