Located at the southwestern edge of Northeastern State University, the home named Rosamund was built by Gideon Morgan in 1893. Morgan was the secretary of the committee that supervised the construction of the female seminary after the Park Hill building burned on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1887. Morgan was instrumental in construction of the $63,000 building which became the Cherokee Female Seminary in Tahlequah that became the home of Northeastern State Normal School that year.
His home is a two-story Folk Victorian house with weatherboard siding. The windows are a combination of two-over-two and one-over-one hung with wood sashes. The foundation is stone. A large entry porch has wood railings and balustrades, and the cross-gable peak has decorative wood trusses. In the late 1980s, ownership of the home transferred to the university's Education Foundation, at which time, renovations were completed, including wood shutters and wood support pillars for the porch.
The L-shaped home has had three additions to the rear, which were added many years ago and are consistent with the original construction. The home is currently used by the educational foundation.
