As I have said before, when submitting the various parks from here. There are about 7 parks, each with a specific task.
Community Park has all the ball fields and soccer fields and pull fields
City Park: has a large children's playground, and pavilions for reunions
Lichtenberg Memorial Park is more traditional, has a gazebo, benches for reading, paths for mediation walking and a few historical items
Hoffman Park has a few benches and one picnic table, the aim here is privacy for your own reasons
Wessel Park - Dedicated to the site local historians believe Lewis & Clark actually stopped when visiting this village. You know, reenactments and such
That brings us to Charrette Park
Flood damaged some homes on the city block, and the area was converted it into a city park. Primary aim was to keep youth active, on their own.
5 basket ball court were created here, and was a very active park, with kids, youth playing pick-up games almost all the time. Never saw it empty.
Then, came another flood. The Great Flood of 1993.
The courts were ruined, concrete and asphalt crumbled under the damaging flood waters.
Only one court is playable today, not used much, but once in a while a couple of kids will play there. Mostly now just open space to be by yourself in the shade, if you choose.
