A 2" horiziontal brass cap placed on top pf the concrete retaining wall.

The data sheet describes thus:

"A G.S.C. bronze tablet set vertically in the top of the concrete wall on the northeast side of the canal, at Trent Canal Lock 8. It is 6.6m southeast of the lower gate, 3.6m southwest of the stairway to downstream approaches, and 76cm northeast of the steel guard rail.

Access is by water along the Trent River, or by foot/vehicle by following Kelleher Road.
