“Final Marker Location for GCM 909309 TOWN OF SIDNEY:
SITUATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF HARBOUR ROAD IN CURB, NORTH EAST OF DRIVEWAY TO # 2248” 80H2786 REPLACES 79H0489.

The MASCOT database lists 130 benchmarks in the small town of Sidney BC. Most of these benchmarks are in the middle of paved roads and at intersections. These are protected from traffic with a round cast iron lids marked “SURVEY MON”. These are inaccessible to the public and inappropriate for waymarking. About 50 are brass discs set in the sidewalks or curbs like this one. At least 12 of these are missing, likely destroyed as the sidewalks and curbs have been rebuilt with paving bricks and/or accessibility ramps. The surviving benchmarks are good subjects for waymarking.
