I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geological Reference Mark from 1948 in good condition. Part of a corner of the concrete post has deteriorated away but the disk is still sound in its post. The NGS datasheet is adequate for station recovery. The posted coordinates should place you pretty close to this mark.

NGS datasheet info:

01/01/1948 by CGS (MONUMENTED)

REFERENCE MARK NUMBER 1, STAMPED REFUGE NO 1 1948, IS A STANDARD REFERENCE MARK DISK THAT IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 10 BY 10 INCH CONCRETE BLOCK THAT PROJECTS ABOUT 5 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 40 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD.

TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 299 AND CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY 139, 0.6 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE TOWN OF CANBY, GO NORTHWEST ON CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY 139 FOR 30.2 MILES TO A ROAD TO THE RIGHT JUST BEFORE REACHING AN OVERPASS. TURN RIGHT ON THE GRADED ROAD (NORTHEAST) AND FOLLOW THE MAIN TRAVELED ROAD FOR 5.8 MILES. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK FOR 4.2 MILES TO ANOTHER FORKS. TAKE THE LEFT FORK AROUND THE SOUTH END OF THE RESERVOIR FOR 4.7 MILES TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT.
