I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geological Survey Triangulation Station from 1948 in good condition. The NGS datasheet is adequate for station recovery with the exception of the witness post which is now gone. The posted coordinates should place you pretty close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1948 (WRH) THE STATION IS ON THE SAGE COVERED ROLLING LOWLANDS, ABOUT 1 MILE WEST OF THE SOUTHEASTERMOST TIP OF THE CLEAR LAKE RESERVOIR, 2 MILES NORTH OF RED LAKE, 11-1/2 MILES DUE WEST OF THE BLUE MTN. U.S. FOREST SERVICE LOOKOUT, AND 1.2 MILES EAST OF A SMALL BRIDGE OVER A CREEK LEADING TO THE RESERVOIR. THE STATION MARK, STAMPED REFUGE 1948, IS A STANDARD STATION MARK THAT IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 10 BY 10 INCH CONCRETE BLOCK THAT PROJECTS ABOUT 4 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 31.6 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE DIRT ROAD AND 7 FEET EAST OF A WHITE WITNESS POST.
TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 299 AND CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY 139, 0.6 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE TOWN OF CANBY, GO NORTHWEST ON CALIFORNIA STATE HIGHWAY 139 FOR 30.2 MILES TO A ROAD TO THE RIGHT JUST BEFORE REACHING AN OVERPASS. TURN RIGHT ON THE GRADED ROAD (NORTHEAST) AND FOLLOW THE MAIN TRAVELED ROAD FOR 5.8 MILES. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK FOR 4.2 MILES TO ANOTHER FORKS. TAKE THE LEFT FORK AROUND THE SOUTH END OF THE RESERVOIR FOR 4.7 MILES TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT.
