On the east side of Wintersmith Park, the topography can be quite steep in places and it became necessary for the CCC to build four sets of trail steps, in 1934. The steps are constructed of native sandstone, and allow full access around the park by trail.

In the 1980s, for safety, steel hand rails were added. The Trail Steps are Item #17 on the District nomination.
