The carving is standing in small garden area outside the current Rotherham Central Railway Station and next to the River Don Navigation.

The crest which once formed part of a South Yorkshire railway station, once took pride of place at Rotherham’s old Westgate station, which shut in 1952. The crest was moved to Boston Castle when the station was demolished and placed in storage in the 1990s by Rotherham Coun Ken Wyatt.

It was moved to this location in 2013 after this railway station was modernised.

There is a small text only information board that stands next to the stone and tells its story.
