The Park was established in 1907 when the creek was dammed and the lake was formed. In 1934, the Civilian Conservation Corps began work at this location, building two additional dams, several buildings and bridges and working on the terrain to form this lovely park.

A hiking trail was one of the things they built. The trail is 1.5 miles long and encircles the lake. Along the trail in four places, stone culverts were built to direct runoff from the upslope ravine, into the creek. These culverts are made of native stone, and are either arched or flat. The construction is still evident today, and serving the purpose for which it was made.

These trail culverts are #11 on the District nomination.
