Below the Woodmen emblem is "Honey Grove Camp No. 44", and on the plinth is the family name, "Foreaker". The inscription is:
Charles F.
Foreaker,
Born
May 3, 1868,
Died
May 3, 1900.
--
There are multiple epitaphs on one side of the monument:
Our faithful friends lie
buried here,
Their happy souls have
winged their way,
To one pure, bright
eternal day.
No pain, no grief, no
anxious fear,
Can reach the peaceful
sleepers here.
Two angels from their
spirits grown,
Their God has claimed
them for His own.
Sleep on Brother and Sister
Thy work is done.
B.C.F.
On the reverse is Mrs. Foreaker's inscription:
Pearl
Wife of
Charles F. Foreaker
Born
Nov. 18, 1876,
Died
April 11, 1900.
--
That "B.C.F." is probably an allusion to Bear Creek, a community that was northwest of here, with some references to it -- a cemetery and the water supply, for example -- still visible in 2016.
Was the inscription legible?: Yes
