Formerly The Golden Eagle, Bunters is a nineteenth Century ale house on a busy corner site in the main shopping area, on the corner of Station Street and West Street.
I knew this pub as the Golden Eagle some 30 years ago. In all honesty my friends and I used to give it a wide berth, and I think I only ever went in there the once. Hearsay (and I stress thet it is only hearsay) has it that its reputation has not changed much. But, 'horses for courses' as they say; not my taste in pubs, but it is busy and thriving, so they must be doing something right.
