The Wheatsheaf is a traditional high street pub which dates from 1840 set on a corner at the end of the shopping area. It has a lively local clientele and a welcoming staff. The interior is decorated in a slightly tacky mock-Tudor style. There is a pool table, jukebox and large tv to entertain those who are so inclined.
It has probably been some 30 years since I last set foot in this pub. It used to be one of the last ports of call before heading back to 'base' at the west end of town on a Friday night pub crawl. It doesn't seem to have changed much, maybe a bigger TV screen, and the outside beer garden looks new. Maybe my memory fails me, or possibly the fact that back then there were a good few more pubs along the high street.
