The St. Thomas Cemetery is located in Halifax County just north of the small rural community of Big Lake. There are approximately 196 interments.
The cemetery is well maintained with large trees along both sides and back of the cemetery. Small brick pillars alternate with small evergreens along the front and two sides. The arched sign is supported by two tall brick pillars. A large cross is not far from the center of the cemetery. There are two gavel roadways for entering the cemetery that circle around the rear.
The area surrounding the cemetery is rustic with an abundance to large trees. There are a few residents along Prospect Road.
