In 1973, classes moved to Mary A. Brown School, south of the railroad yard. The building shuttered its doors and it was eventually sold on the public market after certain deed restrictions were removed that had designated it an education center.

The former school has lived many lives. It was once owned by a movie studio and used in multiple films including 1997’s “Hope Floats.”
It has since been used for commercially marketing and auctioning antique furniture and decorations, but for a long time the building sat vacant.
Don Jellison, the building’s current owner lives there. It is also being used as a pop-up community center, housing different organizations and events.
