This bench is located at the south end of Bruce Park, overlooking the Assiniboine River at the point where it is joined by Truro Creek.
Norm Van Tassel, originally from Digby, NS, served 10 years in the Canadian army with the Queen's Own Rifles. They were the last Canadian regiment stationed in Korea after the troop withdrawals following the ceasefire. Norm served as president of the Korean Veterans' Association of Manitoba.
The dedication reads:
