I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1954 in good condition. The datasheet description is current for station recovery with the exception that Hill Rd is now a paved road.. This mark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4076'. The NGS coordinates should place you pretty close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 4 MI SE FROM MERRILL. 0.2 MILES EAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 39 FROM MERRILL HIGH SCHOOL, THENCE 1.8 MILES SOUTH ALONG SOUTH MAIN STREET, THENCE 2.0 MILES EAST ALONG STATE LINE ROAD, AT THE T JUNCTION OF A GRADED ROAD LEADING SOUTH TO LAVA BEDS NATIONAL MONUMENT, 61 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF STATE LINE ROAD, 30 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE GRADED ROAD, 28 FEET SOUTH OF A FENCE CORNER, 24.8 FEET SOUTH OF SIGN LAVA BEDS NATIONAL MONUMENT 13 MILES, 1.9 FEET NORTH OF A WITNESS POST, 1.2 FEET EAST OF A FENCE, ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.5 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND.
