I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1954 in good condition. The datasheet description is current for station recovery with the exception that Hill Rd is now a paved road and Indian Wells Ranger Station no longer exists. The lone juniper tree mentioned is now dead from a fire. This mark is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4053' The NGS coordinates should place you pretty close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 10.7 MI N FROM INDIAN WELLS. 9.5 MILES NORTH ALONG A PAVED ROAD FROM INDIAN WELLS RANGER STATION, THENCE 1.2 MILES NORTH ALONG A GRADED ROAD, IN THE EAST END OF AN 8- BY 4-FOOT BOULDER PROJECTING 1 FOOT ABOVE THE GROUND, 104 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 89 FEET SOUTHWEST OF POWER AND TELEPHONE POLE A 492, 14 FEET EAST OF A LONE 6-INCH JUNIPER TREE, 2.0 FEET WEST OF A WITNESS POST, 0.9 FOOT WEST OF THE EAST END OF THE BOULDER, AND ABOUT 8 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.
