"The Fire Prevention Division conducts code inspections, plan reviews, and permit inspections to assist in the reduction and prevention of fires. GCFD personnel operate from 6 strategically located fire stations to provide emergency response services 24 hours a day.
The men and women of the Greenville City Fire Department (GCFD) are committed to fulfilling the department’s modern day mission and to continually improving their ability to make the city of Greenville as safe as possible for its citizens. The city is strategically divided into two battalions, with one managed by a battalion chief and the other managed by an assistant chief. Battalion and assistant chiefs are under the direct supervision of the deputy chief of operations. With a total of 143 firefighters, GCFD consists of three platoons, which staff six engine companies, two quint/ladder companies, two medium duty rescue companies and a HAZMAT response unit. In addition to fire suppression, GCFD personnel also conduct code inspections, plan reviews and permit inspections to assist in the reduction and prevention of fires."
