The first Headquarters of the Rpoyal Sir Force were created at the former Hotel Cecil on the Strand in 1918.
A green "blue plaque" commemorates this first as follows:
"ROYAL AIR FORCE
The Royal Air Force was formed and had its first heaadquarters here in the former Hotel Cecil 1st April 1918.
Through adversity to the stars."
