The building was constructed in 1902, and was a blacksmiths until 1937 when John Johnson took over as mechanic. The business repaired cars and sold petrol and parafin. Most of the old petrol pumps were removed in 1995, but this one out front still remains.
With the site now closed (Jun 2016) and up for sale, who knows how long this local landmark will remain.
