This solar array shades the parking lot of a Safeway grocery store in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The array consists of three panel groupings which shade six rows of parking in front of the store. An attendant sign indicates that the panels avoid the emission of 1500 metric tons of co2 over its life time. That is the equivalent of powering 215 homes for a year or planting 38,500 trees, although that many trees would be more impressive. Not mentioned is the appreciation of the many Safeway shoppers who are drawn to the shaded parking.
