Ivybridge House is located at 1-5 Adam Street in the City of Westminster, near the Victoria Embankment Gardens.

An official New Zealand Historic Places Trust plaque on the Adams Street exterior of the building preserves the history of the New Zealand Company, which launched its survey ship Tory from this site in 1839.

The plaque reads as follows:

"[emblem of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust]

From offices on this site the New Zealand Company on 5 May 1839 despatched the survey ship TORY to begin the colonization of New Zealand in the Wakefield Plan"
