The original is a one lane bridge that was not up to the traffic load for the up and coming home development the area was getting in the late 60's. A new bridge was built but in time it was seen that a larger bridge was needed to service the area adequately. The old bridge now serves a short cut from the NCWRC boat landing area to the marina. It is also a great place to boat watch and fish some too.
