Der Rumpf des Schiffes wurde in Schalenbauweise in einer Baugrube hergestellt. Die Fertigung erfolgte mit Kiel nach oben, und nach Fertigstellung wurde der Schiffsrumpf nach Fluten der Grube gedreht und aufgerichtet. Das Betonschiff von Redentin wurde zwischen 1943 und 1944 in Ostswine gebaut und sollte in Wismar ausgerüstet werden. Es strandete während der Überführung in der Wismarer Bucht vor dem ehemaligen Fischerdorf Redentin, heute Teil der Stadt Wismar (Stadtteil Wismar Nord), in der Nähe seines jetzigen Standorts. Vermutlich wurde es danach nie als Schiff, sondern nur als Lager genutzt. Bei dem Versuch, das Schiff in den 1960er Jahren in den Hafen von Redentin zu schleppen, lief es an seinem jetzigen Standort auf eine Sandbank auf.
The hull of the ship was manufactured in shell construction in a pit. The production was carried out with keel upwards, and after completion of the ship's hull was made and erected by flooding the pit. The concrete ship of Redentin was built 1943-1944 in Ostswine and should be equipped in Wismar. It ran aground during the transfer in the Wismar Bay before the former fishing village Redentin, now part of the city of Wismar, near his present location. Probably it was then never used as a ship, but only for storage. In an attempt to tow the ship in the 1960s in the port of Redentin, it was moved to its current location on a sandbank.
