This section of highway, memorializing Gov. Henry S. Johnson is Highway 77, east of I-35 and southwest of Perry. The bronze plaque is mounted on a concrete pillar on the south side of this four-lane highway.

Born December 30, 1867 in Indiana, Henry Johnston moved to Kansas, Colorado and then Oklahoma, earned his law degree, and became Governor of Oklahoma from January 1927 to March 1929. He was impeached and brought up on charges of illegally hiring state employees, and abusing power. Declared not guilty on ten charges, he was convicted of general incompetence and removed from office.

Johnston maintained his legal profession in Perry until his death on January 7, 1965.
