Inverleigh Mechanics Institute was built in the Gothic Revival style of bluestone with a shingle roof, which was replaced with corrugated iron in 1887. The building was opened on 27th March 1866 as a site for the self-improvement of the Inverleigh citizens through reading and lectures.
