In Windsor, within Ascutney State Park, is Mount Ascutney, which has several views, including one from a lookout tower.

There are a couple ways to get to the summit of Mount Ascutney. There are several trails from different origin points. There is an auto road that takes you almost all the way up the mountain. The parking lot near the top is at about 2800 ft high, then you have to walk the .8 mile trail 344 ft further up to get there. My group stopped at a lot about halfway up and hiked up from there. After completing the hike back to the parking lot, I continued to the campground at the base. There is a fee to enter - see the web site.

The mountain is treed at the top. However, there are breaks from which you can see the landscape. At the center of the summit ridge is a lookout tower, from which you can see in all directions.
