This gold colored metal marker is embedded in the sidewalk on the east side of Center St. just at the southern edge of the canal. Across the top is stamped Arizona Highway Dept. Below that, just visible, is Elev. At the middle is 1256.32 At the bottom is 19768. This appears to be a mis-stamp of the date, 1968. The benchmark is located approximately 6 feet east of the eastern edge of Center Street and 22 feet north of the southern edge of the concrete road bed of the bridge.The Oakland Athletics stadium is immediately northeast of the benchmark and their symbol is painted on the bridge.
