Mit Unterstützung der Stadt Mayen wird hier ganzjährig ein Kulturprogramm angeboten. Im und um das Alte Arresthaus hat zudem der Märchenhort seine Bleibe gefunden.
Die Künstlergemeinschaft Augstmühle präsentiert - bei freiem Eintritt - in den Galerieräumlichkeiten im Erdgeschoss monatlich wechselnde Kunstausstellungen. Zudem werden dort regelmäßig Malkurse angeboten.
Im Hof des Alten Arresthauses hat die „Kleine Bühne der Burgfestspiele“ ihre attraktive Spielstätte gefunden.
In den Sommermonaten erwartet die Theaterfreunde hier ein abwechslungsreiches Programm.
In den oberen Etagen des Alten Arresthauses ist zudem das Stadtarchiv der Stadt Mayen untergebracht."
