This mosaic mural depicts a parchment with a map of the Southwestern United States and Baja California with Southern California from Monterey to Mexico being shaded in red. Coats of Arms are depicted for Joseph Sadoc Alemany who served as the first Bishop of Monterey from 1850 until 1853, and as the first Archbishop of San Francisco from 1853 until 1884. The word "MONTEREY" is below and "1849-1850" is near the top.
