[FR] En 1146 la réputation de Vézelay est telle que Bernard de Clairvaux y prêche la deuxième croisade au lieu dit "la croix Saint Bernard".
En 1190, Philippe Auguste et Richard Cœur de Lion s'y donnent rendez-vous pour la troisième croisade.
En août 1834, Prosper Mérimée découvre en Bourgogne l'église abbatiale de Vézelay. De 1840 à 1859, la très longue campagne de restauration de l'église abbatiale de Vézelay est dirigée par l'architecte Eugène Viollet-le-Duc.
(Le 18 février 2015, à la suite d'un surendettement chronique de 7 millions €, les restaurants de Marc Meneau, âgé de 72 ans, sont mis pour la seconde fois en liquidation judiciaire.)

In 1189, the Frankish and English factions of the Third Crusade met at Vézelay before officially departing for the Holy Land.
