The Museum at Mission San Fernando displays this memorial to four Poet Laureates of California including Gordon w. Norris which it depicts and informs us:

"Gordon w. Norris, born August 8, 1907,
Redlands, California; professional poet since
early teens, one of best known works GOLDEN
EMPIRE, 1949, published in celebration of Cali-
fornia's Centennial Years. Designated and ap-
pointed POET LAUREATE OF CALIFORNIA,

Wikipedia (visit link) includes Norris in its list of California Poet Laureates but does not have a separate article for him...nor could a biography be found online for him.
