The date plaque for the original Unified Dispensary for Children is part of a Royal Coat of Arms Frieze relocated from the original hospital and affixed to the 1903 building at the corner of the Waterloo Road and Stamford Street.
The Unified Dispensary for Children was built in the Doctor's Commons on St Andrews Hill in 1816. After several name changes in the 19th Century and a number of expansions, that original hospital building location was demolished. The current Royal Waterloo Hospital building was relocated and built at the corner of the Waterloo Road and the Stamford Street in 1903.
The original frieze of the 1816 Unified Dispensary for Children was preserved and installed as part of the glazeware entry to the 1903 building.
