The sign stands at the entrance to a parking lot, and it says:

On this site in 1904, Irving co-founder J.O. Schulze and his wife Agnes Sueppel Schulze built their home. The frame house was a side-gabled Colonial Revival structure with a palladian window set in the gable of the front wall dormer.

J.O. founded Irving Lumber Co. in 1903. He operated the business until 1905, when the family returned to their home state of Iowa due to Agnes's and their baby's poor health. Although J.O. visited Irving periodically, he lived in Iowa until his wife's death. He moved back to Irving in 1945 and lived in this area until his death in 1961.

The house, which also served as a church and a day nursery over the years, was vacant when it burned in 1985.
