Rebecca Winters was a Mormon pioneer who died of cholera near Scotts Bluff on her way to Utah along the Mormon trail in 1852. The bench gives her dates as 1802 - 1852, but other sources give her birth year as 1799 or 1801. When she died, a family friend inscribed her name and age (given as 50) on a discarded wagon wheel and placed it over her grave. The wheel and her grave were discovered during railway surveying in 1900. This bench was placed in 1997 on the 150th anniversary of the Mormon trail.

The inscription reads:

REBECCA WINTERS
